The 20-foot Chris Craft Custom Runabout is one of the most beautiful and sought after classic runabouts. Many enthusiasts agree that this model gives the best combination of stunning looks and great ride quality. With 366 built from 1946 to 1949, probably less than 70 probably still exist in ranging condition. R-20-040is in extraordinary original and well preserved condition. Nearly all of her original planking and construction details are just like when she left the factory. The hull card indicates this engine serial is original to the hull number. The boat has been fully prepared for the 2017 boating season. She will be the center of attention at boat shows and able to entertain family and friends. We’ve decided to transfer her on to another owner due to recent changes in our family and our ability to use her frequently.The original bottom was determined to be in very good condition, but the inner canvas layer providing the watertight barrier required a soak in period.Thisreduced the freedom to immediately use the boat upon lunching, so we optedto invest in a new bottom using the enhanced original bottom (3M 5200). In our view, this provided for the best combination of original construction and long term integrity.
