1968 Boston Whaler Menemsha 1 of 230 pocket cruiser Cuddy cabin 2020 Tohatsu 60
1968 Boston Whaler Menemsha
Description
Selling my rare 1968 Boston Whaler Menemsha. This is a factory pocket cruiser with a monocoque cuddy cabin. I repowered this Spring with a Tohatsu 60hp four stroke engine. The boat comes with a 1994 Calkins galvanized trailer. The boat is in good working order and has been used daily this summer on a freshwater lake and on an excursion in the Thousand Islands. Max speed with this prop is 31 mph with 220 pounds of driver and dog and a full 12 gallon tank. Cruise on plane as low as 18-19mph.This is a good old classic Whaler hull. It has plenty of crazing in the gelcoat and could use some good cleaning. One of the gullwing doors was replaced by a previous owner and does not have the portlight or the original hinge and bracket. The previous owner removed the fiberglass helm seating that had the built-in storage in favor of a single seat, but I have the original piece and the legs for it. There is also a Garelick folding bench installed. Includes boat, trailer, and mooring cover. Buyer's choice of 6 or 12 gallon gas tank. No electronics included.
The brochure pictured is just for information, I sourced it from the internet when buying this boat. Known missing items include the side skirts, the rear engine-area railings, the stern seat, and the marine head that was removed to comply with modern regulations. The original berth that sat over the head is included.
The Tohatsu is a great engine; msrp is $7,590 plus controls, install, and taxes. The engine has 36 hours on it; the 20-hour service after break in was completed on time with everything looking good. It has variable idle speed control and a tachometer is installed. The engine is mounted "two-up" for best efficiency and overall operation. The trailer has rust on the fenders but is sound, lights work, and it has made two 3-500 mile round trips this summer. Bearings recently packed.
Boat and trailer registered in my name in CT, ready for transfer. Sold as is where is, all faults known and unknown. Happy to arrange an inspection before you buy.
Willing to sell without engine if you'd like to source your own period correct engine, or add horsepower, just stipulate that in your offer.
This boat can be put in the water today and enjoyed as it is, or brought inside for a nice quick renovation to really shine next season.
