1988 Donzi F23
Description
1988 Donzi 23 Foot Center Console
2004 Yamaha 200hp ox66 Saltwater Series 2 Stroke
For sale is this classic Donzi 23 foot Center Console, a great design that stands the test of time. It includes a rock solid 200 HP Yamaha ox66 Outboard that has been freshly serviced at Saltwater Marine in Wilmington.
I bought this boat 2 years ago and have been fishing with it weekly over the last year. It's a great boat that's easy enough for 1 person to manage or for 3-4 to take fishing offshore. I have taken it 20+ miles offshore myself in 5-6 seas and felt very safe.
I had the boat overhauled at Bennett Brother Yachts in Wilmington, NC when I first bought it. Subsequent service has been done at Saltwater Marine in Wilmington. The motor does not have an internal hours meter but I believe the total hours to be around 500. The engine cover has a few dings but underneath is in great condition. The boat was kept on a lift for most of the motor's life and before I had it and was used sparingly in the ICW by a family with kids. I have put about 175 hours onthe boat/engine and it has performed flawlessly. It's freshly serviced in the last 60 days and ready for another season.
I have used the boat mostly for fishing nearshore and offshore. After I bought it I had a rebuild performed on the boat's major components that included the following:
New Fuel Tank (Custom Stainless Steel 85+/- gallon)
New Throttle Controls & Linkage
New Wiring Harnesses
New Gauges
Steering System Completely Rebuilt
Tilt Pump System Freshly Rebuilt/Serviced
New Compass
New T-Top Upholstery
New Bolsters
New Garmin EchoMap Chip 94sv Fishfinder
Boat top speed with the currently installed motor is around 40mph, but with fuel and people it cruises at about 35mph. I find it cruises comfortably in moderate chop at around 20-25mph. I find it's perfect for running nearshoreeven in rougher seas and going farther offshore on nice days.
It has an in-deck live well but it is not hooked up and would need some attention if you want it running again. The Leaning Post pad's upholstery needs redone and the seat forward of the console could use some attention to be perfect again. It is a 30 year old boat so it has some rough edges, but fully restored these go for around $30K+ so if you want to invest the money to restore it further the money won't be lost. Otherwise it's a great boat as-is for near and offshore fishing, or just getting around in general. Donzi's are known for having a smooth ride on plane, getting up to speed quick and for having quick, responsive steering. The hull design and torquey 2S engine are a nice combo.
I'm selling the boat because I am moving this month and won't have a dock to store this anymore. I'll be figuring out a new boat situation for myself once summer gets here. Price is firm. I have it listed for sale in other places but I will remove this listing once it has sold. Call me if you'd like more information. I reserve the right to water trials based on weather and my availability. Comes with a dual axle trailer.
