1988 Formula 272 SR1

Description

Up for sale is a very clean 1988 Formula 272 SR1 that has received lots of upgrades and TLC over the year. Strong runner and no known issues. Relocation and the need for a larger boat is the only reason for the sale.....As for the boat, I have a pile of receipts and will share the highlights. First, for power, both big blocks have been completely redone and built by a-z Marine out of NJ. I bought this boat after it changed hands during an automotive transaction and many receipts were lost. One thing is clear, tons of money was spent on her and no corners were cut. I was told one engine dyno'd at 547HP and the other 542HP. Dyno sheet is missing but I have wel over 12k worth of receipts that shows the type of care this boat had beyond the full rebuild this Formula has undergone. I'm going to call them mystery big blocks since I don't have the build sheets. The transom assemblies were replacedat the same time the engines were done and are in great shape.As you can tell, the enginesare clearly not stock and run great. This boat has no trouble running at 68-70 on the GPS while turning 4500ish. I'm sure there could be more using lab finished props and maybe tuning(will describe below). All this major work, engines, upholstery, Transom assemblies, gel/paint, rub rails,etc was done between 10/09 thru 6/10.
Hull is gorgeous and has been refinished. The decals/graphics have some dock rash on close inspection but the white gel isin excellent condition and shines up beautifully. Since the decals are vinyl, they can easily be removed or replaced if so desired. The topsides were redone with the correct colors and factory Imron. Livorsi gauges all work. The hour meter gave out at 86.8 hours and I replaced it(still have meter). True hours unknown but I suspect its in the 2-300 hour range. Stainless Marine exhaust channeled thru the silent thunder platform(sounds great).
I have the receipt from 2011 that addressed the most problematic area of these old birds, the bulkhead behind the gastank.Both engine pulled, Bulkhead rebuilt and glass work donein 2011. This visit alone wasat a cost of $3,689.88. This same shop receipt shows the boat ran 74MPH at 5200 using lab finishedprops. So with proper tuning and tweaking, I'm sure there is more than the GPS speeds of 68-70 I've had. I just haven't spent any time tweaking the jetting or anything on the new carbs.
The trailer is a 2005 Ace trailer. Bearings, tires, rims and was converted to 4 wheel disc brakes last year; (100 miles maybe?). Sorry don't have a pic of the new alloy wheels to post since the wheels are still wrapped from winter. This is not some cobbled together build and I'm not interested in any low ball offers. This boat is honesty for someone that understands what they are buying and appreciates these old formulas. Offers are encouraged but understand what your buying please......Thanks!
