1991 FOUR WINNS 170 FREEDOM OPEN BOW 3.0 COBRA INBOARD/OUTBOARD WITH TRAILER
1991 Four Winns 170 Freedom
Description
Up for auction is my 1991 Four Winns 170 Freedom boat. This is a 17' fiberglass bowrider boat that seats up to 8 people. This boat has the OMC 3.0 Cobra engine that is inboard with a single outboard drive.
This boat was last used in 2016 and has been stored inside. The reason for selling is I don't have time to use it the way I would like to.
Overall, the boat is in decent shape. The vinyl seating is pretty good. There are a few rips in some of the front cushions but other than that the rest of the seats are not ripped. There are a few stains but with a good scrubbing, these should come out.The floor does have a few soft spots. Nothing that I felt was too serious . The worst is around the in-floor storage area. The transom feels pretty solid.I have never taken the time to fully inspect the structure of the boat.
The gelcoat needs a good buffing and seal. The exterior vinyl has certainly seen better days. If I had the time, I would have the vinyl removed and buff the entire exterior of the structure. Then reapply new vinyl. A lot of the vinyl started to peel when I was power washing the boat.
All the boat's lights, gauges, horn, etc also work as intended. I did rewire the trim switch and moved it to the dash. The original trim switch on the throttle handle is notorious for going bad over time with the thin wires in the handle. The new switch is a nice momentary switch that does the same thing as the switch on the handle, it's just now on the dash.
I did install a brand new HummingBird Helix 5 DI with GPS. This unit is really nice that has the capability to chart a course as well as locate fish. It still has the protective screen cover on it. It is mounted in the captain's cupholder location to the right of the steering wheel.
The engine is the factory 3.0 Cobra with the original outdrive. The outdrive is in nice shape. The prop does not have any chips or marks on it. The bellows are also in good shape. The steering is nice and it does not have any binding. It turns sharp and crisp.
The boat does come with its original trailer. I replaced the tire and wheel on the curbside of the trailer last year. I still have the spare tire and rim but the tire is showing signs of dry rot. It still holds are though. The axle appear in good shape. I took the time last year to also replace the rear lights with new units. All lights do work and function and they should. The front jack is also in good working order.
Overall, this boat would be a good boat if you are looking for something to use on the lake to pull a couple tubes. Or if you are looking for a cost effective boat to fish with, this boat can be used for that also.
It does come with a cover that is stained but not ripped. It does have a bimini top also but it is not in good shape. I never used it.
The Helix 5 DI and the trailer together are worth over $1000. I feel my reserve is justified.
Registration is current and good through 2018 for Ohio.
Title is in hand.
