1972 Glastron GT-150
1972 Glastron GT-150
Description
Glastron Replica is please to offer one of our three (see above pic) excellent, original Glastron GT-150s. This boat was purchased by us in 2008 from a friend and fellow Classic Glastron Owners Association member.
History. The original history of the boat and the previous owners have all been documented. The boat was originally purchased in May/June of 1972 (see above pic of LA sticker) from Howard Griffin Marine in Monroe, LA (at the time, the largest Johnson/Evinrude dealer in the US) just months before the September filming of Live and Let Die in the waters around New Orleans. (The original owner and his friend each bought a GT right off the shelf, literally with a forklift removal. His friend got the 90 hp Mercury but the original owner had to settle for the 80 hp version. Somewhat disappointed, the dealer said try the boat out and if the 80 hp was too slow, bring it back and they would order a 90 hp. I asked what he did and the owner said, "I took the boat out. It scared me enough that I did not want the bigger 90 hp!") The second owner was also in LA and purchased the boat in Alexandria, LA. Together, the first two owners had the boat 32 years! Our friend, the third owner, who purchased the boat in 2004 and who we purchased the boat from in 2008, was in San Antonio TX. We have owned the boat since 2008.
Condition. This boat came to us in good condition with a perfect windshield, new carpet, new plastic fuel tank, cover, Glastron mirror, correct original Glastron dealer installed tach and speedo and restored and original 1972 trailer. The Merc 800 motor starts and runs fine and comes with original owner's manual and original plastic Merc packet (see pic above). During its early life, a very desirable Mercury/Mariner trim and tilt unit was installed and a t/t control unit added near the shifter. The boat's interior has had no wayward holes and attachments made to the dash or the vinyl. Upgraded interior lighting was tucked behind the side rails.Other small additions include a Perko shut off and a depth finder. As a southern boat, there is some crazing of the orange gel from sun exposure and some fading of the seats. A few side panels on some seat bottoms do have vinyl cracks and/or chips not readily visible.
The boat has been displayed at several events and was invited to the Minneapolis Boat Show (one of the larger in the US) for display.
Improvements. During our ownership, a profession boat shop replaced a soft section of the rear floor, the Mercury throttle/shift controller was restored, inserts were added to the steering wheel (not shown), the bow emblem and decal were replaced. The skeg will be repaired (chip) prior to pickup. Recent new prop and battery.
Guarantee. Glastron Replica guarantees all our sales 100%. If you are not satisfied with this boat upon examination, you may cancel the purchase and owe nothing.
