Freeport Islander 36 B - Extreme Bargain
1977 Freeport Islander B Custom 39ft Cutter Rigged Sloop
Description
"The Islander Freeport 36B is a classic Robert Perry design, and one of those boats that has a following with an active owner's group. The clever layout with comfortable owner's cabin, large forward head and ample headroom for 6 tall guys and gals has made it a favorite in this under 40' size boat. Not to mention the large windows that light up the saloon making you feel you are aboard a larger yacht. A cockpit that sits 6 comfortably, offering a higher perch for the helmsman is also a popular hangout when you are dining at anchor, offering cup holders and a folding cockpit table."

This boat has been at the same dock for about 3 years. The batteries have been regularly maintained as well as the bilge checked and pumped as needed. The boat got pushed against the dock in three places on the starboard rail. There is some wood trim damage and some glass damage quoted to be repaired for $500.00. I have no time to use or oversee repairs so the boat is going to go to someone at a bargain price. There has been some water intrusion to the cabinetry on the starboard side that would also need some attention. The water damage also reached some of the floorboards, but there is no structural damage that would impede sailing the boat except for a fouled bottom. There is a solid stainless steel framed bimini top and all of the sails have been stored in a clean dry environment. The boat has a roller furling head sail and an anchor pulpit with a bow rail. There is some crazing in the topside gelcoat, but that is a purely cosmetic issue. The decks are all solid with no found soft spots. I don't see any leaks aside from the rail damage and that is very minimal. The layout is a great one for cruising or living aboard with the head forward, a large stateroom behind that and then the main salon with galley and dinette to port. The Perkins 4-108 is mounted below the floorboards in the salon. All tankage is also under the floorboards. The U shaped galley is easy to use and work in even in a large sea. The roomy cockpit has seating and deep lazaretttes port and starboard with storage on either side of the fold down transom swim steps. This is the most innovative way to get in and out of the water that I have ever seen. The steering pedestal is well placed to walk past it from either direction as well as having a nice complement of gauges including Garmin GPS. The navigation station to starboard as you enter the salon is equipped with radar monitor, VHF radio and a single side band radio as well as all of the switches for both 12 volt and 110. This boat could be driven from its current place with a bottom cleaning and fuel polishing(3 years of diesel growth). There are several marinas within 20 miles that can haul this boat, some are do it yourself and some are not. The boat is located in Brevard county at a private residence and I will respect the owners privacy. This is a very popular boat with the most sought after layout. Ask all of your questions early and don't miss out on this great bargain. This boat is for sale locally and I may end the auction early if it sells for the asking price of $12,500.00.
