I just built this spectacular little boat in my shop on my houseboat on Norris Lake, Tennessee – literally born on the waves. It is based on the plans for a boat design called the Utility by Glen-L Marine Designs and is 12 feet in length with a maximum beam of 5 feet. The frames are made from white oak and the hull is planked with top quality, 1088 Okoume Marine Grade Plywood (1/4”) and sheathed with a coat of fiberglass for ultimate waterproofness – the empty hull weighs around 150 lbs. The frames have been treated with epoxy and multiple coats of spar urethane and the fiberglass has been painted with a gloss black latex paint (for easy touch up). The design is rated for a short-shaft outboard up to 15 HP (not included in this sale) and I’ve had it over 20 MPH on test runs - she handles like a dream and accelerates quickly, planning out in seconds. It has a battery platform and gas tank platform as well as elastic cord storage webbing under the bow deck. It includes bow and stern running LED lights and a trolling motor receptacle and stern light storage clips under the aft thwart. Additional hardware includes a bow handle, bow chocks (2), open based cleats fore and aft (4), mini-cleats amidships (2), transom cleats (2), flag pole socket and storage clips for a tiller handle extension. The floorboards have been coated with a transparent, non-skid material which provides traction but lets the natural grain patterns of the wood shine through. TWRA assigned her a hull ID number (HIN) and the registration is good until 9-9-17. This sale also includes a used trailer with working lights but does not include outboard motor and tank, trolling motor or battery. This attention getting boat is easy to launch by a single person, cheap to operate and will get you to your favorite fishing spot in a hurry. Delivery within a 200 mile radius of Knoxville is available for an additional fee.
