The Weather;
The temperature in The Bahamas averages between75°Fand84°F(24°C-29°C) in both winter and summer, although it can get chilly in the early morning and at night. The Bahamian winter is usually like a perpetual late spring -- naturally, the high season for North Americans rushing to escape snow and ice!
We try hard to keep our charters fun and affordable so please join us if you can. The waters of The Bahamas are known to be absolutely crystal clear.There is great snorkeling and fishing along the reefsand across the banks. Dolphins are quite often seen swimming in Mambo's Wake .It is hard to put into words. Just Fantastic! We will be Island Hopping all week and exploring different anchorages and settlements as well.
The Available Week of your choice : 2017 Exumas/Eleuthera/Nassau.FEB. 4th to FEB 11th FEB 18th to FEB 25thMarch 4th to March 11th . March 18th to March 25thApril 1st to April 8th (ABACOS) The Airport in Nassau is Pindling Int. (LIPA)
Generally, flying to Nassau is the least expensive and easier connection. Flying to Eleuthera takes more planning and is a bit more expensive.The Northern Airport (ELH) has the most connectionsbut Governors Harbor (GHB) and Rock Sound Airport (RSD) are alternatives.
During the Months of April thru July Mambo offers this itinerary in Marsh Harbor Abaco, also a well protected cruising ground known for great sailing and beautiful out islands. There are weeks available in Abaco: Bahamas Air offers very inexpensive inter island flights from Nassau to MHH . This can be helpful if you can not find an affordableflight or connection directly to MHH from you local airport. Hope this helps.

Captain Bruce and First Mate Colleen. During your week excursion we will be reviewing diesel and engines electrical systems and what goes into designing a power plant to keep your boat working smoothly.We will be discussing fuel delivery systems filter requirements and fuel bleeding methods.We will also review how your alternator works and how to keep it working if your regulator dies. Of course having a spare is the easiest repair. Spares will be discussed. Having refrigeration system these days is a must .In the old days or should I say my younger days I sailed without. But cold beer and fresh food prevailed. Once I installed the refrigeration system my power requirements changed dramatically. The understanding the loads of equipment and keeping up with the power demands is a must. Designing a charging system that works properly and not over complicated is something to strive for.We will be discussing this as well. You will also get to try out the ships SSB/HAM Radio and learn how to use it.
Learning how to anchor properly is one of the most underestimated skills that I have witnessed over my years of experience and definitely will be practiced. We will be discussing offshore sailing and practice offshore sailing methods that will help you fight fatigue. I have been sailing single handed for many years and understand how important it is to have a strategy. Navigation! Yes . Everybody has a plotter and GPS. What happens when you get hit by lightening or an electrical glitch/failure occurs? Get out the tools and your charts and start plotting. We will cover that as well. I can go on but its 5 oclock somewhere! Feel free to give us a call 252 622 7540 when we are in the States. 242 551 3433 in The Bahamas

Every charter group has a list of things they want to do and sometimes learning how to repair the boat at sea is not on everyones radar. Getting to a restaurant after a day of sailingand snorkeling is always on the hit parade. It's your charter. Lets have some fun!
A Very Abridged Bio:
I started my first charter business in 1979 on Long Island in N.Y. I then, after a few years of sailing there, decided to move south and go cruising and sailed to Florida and The Keys then Bahamas and then The B.V.I.'s. In the late 80's I landed a job a a Charter Captain working for Humber College located in Toronto Canada as a sailing instructor(BVI). I did that for a while and this is where I learned all about the business. I made a lot of friends as well. I continued sailing and cruising and therefore have a lot of sea time under my belt . I have "Captained" and have been "Engineer" on all kinds of vessels.. I have done many deliveries moving boats from R.I. to USVI numerous deliveries to coastal ports in the U.S. and many vessels to the Bahamas and Bermuda. On the way I have been to Puerto Rico and The Dominican Republic. I have owned several sailboats as well. I have been Captain aboard a 75 foot Schooner and taught sailing to young adults. I was engineer and Mate aboard a 125 foot three masted schooner for a while. (Many deliveries on Sportfish Boats as well) Captain aboard 84 Hatteras engineer aboard 80 foot Burger . I also have been in business for myself as an electrician. I have been in large restoration projects as lead electrician and also have good skills as a boat carpenter. Currently I am onboard as Engineer on a 110 foot Motoryacht in Beaufort NC. (As you can see I like to stay busy)
We would also like to sincerely thank all of our customers/friends who have joined us on Mambo for a week of Sailing. We really have enjoyed having you on board and hope to see you again!
