ORIGINAL ARTICLE and REVIEW Boating - Trial run - Cruisers 2420 Aria Length: 24 feet, Beam: 102 inches. - Engine: Mewrcruiser 7.4, Horsepower: 300. Fuel capacity: 80 gallons. - Dry weight: 5,500 pounds. - Manufacturer: Cruisers, a division of KCS International May 5, 1994|By Jim Youngs, Trailer Boats Magazine When you stop to analyze where people spend their time on a boat, I would venture to guess that it would be the cockpit. On good-weather days, lounging in the cockpit is much more enjoyable than being cooped up in the cabin. Unless, of course, a nap is called for and even then I prefer the open air. So why not accommodate day cruising by expanding the cockpit space and leaving minimal space in the cabin (just room enough to grab a wink, take a shower or boil some water for a cup of coffee). Cruisers Aria strikes a nice balance between large cockpit space and an accommodating cabin. Cruisers refers to the Aria as a day boat, and what a wonderful day boat it is. I think Cruisers sells it a little short, however, because the cabin is much more accommodating than I was originally led to believe. The Aria is based on Cruisers' popular 2470 Rogue cruising boat, so the hull has a good track record. The designers effectively pushed the helm and windshield forward to open up the cockpit. An overhead view of both boats would show a dramatic increase in cockpit space on the Aria; enough to add a wet bar behind the helm bench, increase the size of the ''L''-shaped lounge and add a small jump seat adjacent to the helm bench. Cockpit is focal point Because the cockpit is the focal point of the Aria, I will start the tour by boarding from the full-width swim platform and take a close look at the accommodations in this expansive space. The platform includes a stainless, fold-down ladder and a recessed spot for several fenders (cushions that protect the hull from rubbing against the dock or another boat), held in place by a stainless rail. The configuration of the swim ladder and fender containment eats up considerable platform room. An acrylic door on the side opens for easy access to the cockpit. Straight ahead is the wet bar, incorporating a sizable molded-in sink, counter space, refrigerator and considerable storage space below. (An electric refrigerator is available as a $671 option.) The sink is fed by a 20-gallon water supply, which also serves the head compartment and galley module. The ''L''-shaped lounge seating is large enough to accommodate quite a few people. There are convenient drink holders at the corners. A big, two-pedestal, rectangular table provides ample dining space, yet drops down to convert the benches into a large sun lounge. For storage, Cruisers designed an immense compartment extending the full width of the boat. It is covered by a hinged hatch. Helm is well designed The helm area is especially well designed. The wide bench seat is adjustable to allow for stand-up or sit-down driving duties. The reverse-mount instruments are neatly arranged for visibility, and the compass is mounted above the dash in the correct line-of-sight position. The boat's accessory switches and circuit breakers are close at hand and properly labeled. A vertical flat spot to the right of the helm is angled toward the skipper, should he or she want to mount radios or other electronics. For safe and easy access from the cockpit to the front deck, Cruisers incorporated stylish, molded-in steps up the center of the dash console to an opening windshield. In addition to the steps, there is a convenient stainless-steel handrail for added security. The shortened deck features a high, yet stout, stainless bow rail around its perimeter (the high rail is an $839 option) and an optional anchor roller and mooring bit ($300). A large translucent hatch is mounted in the center of the deck. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................... 100% Positive Feedback Bid with Confidence USA Auction only $500 Non-Refundable Pay Pal Deposit at Auction Close Cash at pick up, Certified Bank Check FREE DELIVERY up to 200 miles from Cooperstown, NY with Buy-It-Now and advance payment I reserve the right to end this auction early.
