Description

This Westerly Pageant is the end product of a complete re-fit and current-thinking design modifications under the supervision of a well known Naval Architect. The work and equipage are so extensive that no fully completely detailed description would be possible on Ebay, but here are the basics; “Ladyship” started life as a 1971 model Westerly Pageant 23 in the lower Chesapeake Bay environs. She was rescued 5 years ago from a salvage yard on the Texas coast and became the “bones” and foundation of an very extensive “no-holds-barred” design/build project to explore what could be done with current design thinking to modernize and improve on a classic twin-keel British cruising sailboat. The Pageants have astonishing storage and interior headroom to begin with (over 6') below in the saloon) and a fully enclosed head, so the basic original design is an amazingly solid, safe and comfortable sailing cruiser in such a small package. An Epe bowsprit was added and the rig's fore-triangle was re-done and enlarged to allow the use of a soft luff inner foresail which is removable. All port lights have been replaced by new Vetus screened opening ports. The keels were faired and re-shaped to have a slight asymmetric lifting profile for better windward performance and the mast was modified to allow the use of a tabernacle for ease of trailering on her new custom built tandem-axle aluminum trailer...she weighs around 7,500 pounds as a towing load with a fully legal towing beam of 8.5'. All sails are new and by Schuur Sails in Pensacola Florida and the two foresails use Schaefer “Snap-furl” roller furling/reefing. She has a full electronics package including a modern Standard Horizon 1010i GPS plotter equipped with Wi-Fi, Raymarine log, wind and depth instruments, Ritchie Compass, commercial VHF radio and even Class B AIS. A Tivoli sound system plays CDs and has an AM/FM tuner with even a small sub-woofer. She carries dual 100 watt solar panels on top of a professionally built structural stern arch. The stern of the cockpit was completely re-engineered and rebuilt to house a new 20hp 4-stroke outboard with a high thrust prop inside a well that allows the motor to be fully retracted under sail via a motorized mounting track. She now carries a 12,000 BTU Mermaid marine air conditioning system where the original inboard engine was, that is also internally ducted up into the V-berth! She a has a pressure water system and a new Origo two-burner alcohol stove in her galley which was re-done with a custom Corian counter top, along with an Engel MT-60 fridge-freezer. She uses a Sea-Land head system with an integral holding tank mounted in her enclosed head compartment. The holding tank can be deck pumped as well as overboard discharged where allowed. All interior cushions are new (4") and covered with Cadet Grey Sunbrella to match her dodger and stern arch connector. Her electrics include 30 amp shore power coming in via a D.E.I ground isolater and she has a Magnesine pure sinewave integrated inverter/charger to manage her dual battery house bank and and a dedicated engine starting battery. There is MUCH, MUCH more to describe and include not mentioned here, and she has been featured in “Good Old Boat” Magazine. Contact me for a link to some additional detailed build information and re-fit history. She needs nothing to be sailed away tomorrow and is fully operational, including two anchors and all rodes and mooring lines...just add your safety gear and provisions and cast off. I will do a complete training session with the lucky new skipper as to all systems and mast raising protocols. An auction winner above the reserve can pick the boat up with their own tow vehicle where she is now and I will, of course, completely brief the winner about all procedures and use. If you want an official C&V survey from an accredited marine surveyor, I can arrange for that at your expense. The boat is sold “as is and where is” unless otherwise as described above. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further discussion and details. She's a great boat, but I have another one to enjoy and she's ready to go sailing with a new skipper!
