With very little work, this boat has many good solid years of pleasure left.HISTORY: Since 1966, Skipjack boats have withstood the test of time on the open ocean. You'll see these legacy boats still hard at work well beyond the outer banks and islands. You'll finddedicated ownersre-powering their Skipjacks after thousands of hours at sea. While no engine will last forever, a good solid hull is worth keeping when created with timeless nautical styling and solid construction. And that is why you'll still find 35-year-old Skipjacks commanding top dollar | | | |
Excellent island, intercoastal and off shore ocean cruiser. One of few that is built for ocean fishing and still small enough to be trailerable. This 24' SkipJack has not been in use for the past 20 years and was only used in freshwater lakes. Picked up this boat late last year and the hour meter only had "509 ORIGINAL HOURS" on this boat. Think I may have left the key in on ON, accessory position last week, as the meter had gone up to around 600 hours, when not even in use (just hoping that I remembered to turn the key off again the other day).Boat is very solid with entire hull being in very good condition. This boat fired up effortlessly with a few pumps of fresh gasoline and purrs like a kitten. The outdrive is heavy duty and shifts forward, nuetral and reverse fine. The hydraulic trim pumps worked fine after bleeding the rams with fresh fluids and topping off the reserviors. This boat has not been lake tested and is being sold "as is" and "as described". We have already spent nearly two weeks cleaning up this boat and had a mechanic going through the motor and outdrive systems for a few days. The exterior of the hull has only been lightly buffed out and looks great for her age, has not yet been either polished or waxed. The original fuel tank looked fine from exterior, but had developed pinholes from light corrosion on the inside/outside and was leaking. It is very simple to access and has been pulled out (but is included and could be repaired). The dimensions are very simple at 2'X4'X18" tall. Estimating to have a capacity of around 85 gallons. I have shopped the web pretty extensively and am finding new tanks that are very close in size (70 gallon capacity) with new fuel sending units included, for just under $400. Below is a copy of the standard equipment and floorplan --brochure for a classic SkipJack 24 Open. This model was produced from 1969 to 2008. Probably a $100k+ boat, when last offered in 2008. I do not see any changes in the design of the hull or the floorplan. Get a sharp classic SkipJack24 on a matching trailer for your fishing pleasures...NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!!
