Meridian is a 1968 Tartan Blackwatch/Classic 37 hull #18. Before my stewardship, she was owned by the same family since her build. With regular care and maintenance, her classic lines still perform as well as they catch the eye of many. Built from Ted Hoods design and inspiration from his “robin too” series in marblehead in the early 60s,Ted offered the design to Douglass & McLeod to put into production, unfortunately a fire damaged to the factory, this led to only 32 of these fine hulls to be made in completion. With a 10’-6” beam and 17,000 displacement, the once yawl, now rigged as a sloop, points high to the weather and loves it!!! She is comfortable at any point of sail. The helmsman can choose from tiller and wheel as she is equipped with both. the autopilot operates from the wheel. She is the shoal draft full keel centerboard model. Under power, a diesel Westerbeke 27a with only 1,0000 hours reliably takes charge. The salon has recently received a custom facelift with two large main bunks and a third bunk as well. the new salon boasts of new 6’ cushion and custom sunbrella cover and plenty of storage. Two more bunks are in the V birth. 4 anchors are aboard with the main having 150’ of 5/16” chain, another 100’ of chain and severe hounders feet of rhode ready. the Lamar 1000reliable hauls the main anchor. The galley has a 3 burner force 10 propane range powered by 2 aluminum tanks. if need, a diesel heater takes the cold away. Her sail inventory is abundant! Meridian is loaded and ready to sail! too many extras to mention! The right dreamer will be the next captain.
