YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1960'S VINTAGE FIBERGLASS SINGLE SEAT RUNABOUT. AN EARLY VERSION OF A PERSONAL WATERCRAFT. USES A 2CYCLEOUTBOARD MOTOR MOUNTED IN THE HULL IN FRONT OF THE RIDER. LOWER UNIT EXTENDS THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE HULL. STEERING IS DONE WITH A RUDDER OPERATED BY A STEERING WHEEL. SPEED CONTROL BY THROTTLE LEVER. PULL START RECOIL CORD ON DASH TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. CHOKE CABLE ABOVE. 88" LONG, 44" WIDE. FUELCAN BEHIND RIDER HOLDS 2+1/4 GALLONS. PRIMER BULB ON FUEL LINE.COMES WITHA TOW-GO WAVERUNNER TRAILER ADAPTED FOR THE RUNABOUT.
I HAVE NEVER TRIED TO START.MOTOR IS NOT SEIZED, RECOIL ASSEMBLYOPERATES BUT SHOWS WEAR. FIBERGLASS HULL HAS SEVERAL CRACKS AS SEEN IN PHOTOS. PAINT IS DULLER THAN APPEARS IN PHOTOS. THROTTLE AND CHOKE CABLE OPERATE SMOOTHLY. RUDDER IS STUCK AND SOME FIBERGLASS MOUNTING FOR THESTEERING LINKAGE IS LOOSE. GAS TANK IS CLEAN INSIDE. OUTSIDE PAINT IS CHECKED. BOAT AND TRAILER TOWS WELL, LIGHTS WORK, TIRES HOLD AIR AND HAVE GOOD TREAD, SIDEWALLS CHECKED.
THIS WOULD BE A NICE LITTLE WINTER PROJECT. COULD USE BODY WORK AND PAINT AND A LITTLE TLC.
I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A 1967 BEST MARINE RUNABOUT, BUT I HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION OR HULL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER TO PROOVE IT. WAS REGISTERED IN OHIOPRIOR TO 2009.I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE LIKE IT IN ANY OF MY SEARCHES. A FEW YEARS AGO, I FOUND A PHOTO OF AN IDENTICAL BOAT THAT WAS CALLED A MANTA. IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY RARE ITEM.
