You may have seen her cruising around the Virgin Islands for the past 20 years! Sadly, after lovingly caring for this beautiful 1970 43-foot Swan, I find I am unable to spend the time with her that I so desire. A new phase of life calls to me and I believe that Omuramba is ready for a new younger owner to continue where I left off.
She was initially commissioned by the chief magistrate of Namibia (hence her original name) and served as an ocean racing yacht for many years. She has sailed around the world at least twice if not more. In my time with her I sailed back and forth to St.Thomas from Connecticut every fall and spring gathering over 45,000 sea miles with her. Her hull is solid fiberglass, 2 1/2 inches thick!
I have maintained her every need over the years including a major overhaul of rigging & mast and new fiberglass deck in 2009, in 2016 I put in a new Volvo Penta 55 hp engine which has only 240 hours on it. She most recently had the forestay andbackstay replaced as a precautionary measure. She is equipped with GPS, EPIRB, radar, VHF, SSB, electronic and Aries autohelms, wind generator, life raft and sea anchor with in cockpit instruments including radar. This vessel is ocean ready and is a solidly fast sailing beauty that can weather any storm. With fuel jerry jugs on deck she holds 100 gallons of diesel. She is insured for $200,000. She has been moored in CT for the past 5 years.
Please feel free to come and survey her, she is at Bruce & Johnson's Marina in Branford, CT, on hard for the winter this season. There is one more survey after this one with new engine in place, must e-mail it to you, can't upload it.
