Being the only one of less than 20 produced, this is as rare and desirable as they get! The stunning and timeless colors are both period correct and still fashionable today whether it be a trip to the yacht club or long sunset ride with your family.
What makes this boat truly worth owning is the level of detail and hand assembled craftsmanship that is present in few others, at any price point. This magnificent motorboat was produced in an era when owning a Chris Craft meant something significant. There was no such thing as a $1999 a month lease on a new one; ownership was reserved for just a select few. This boat was one of the most expensive and best overall available during its time; it combined the smooth ride with the opulent appointments one would expect in the classiest of motorboats. This was for the most discerning individual to whom sacrificing any virtue of the vehicle for the sake of another was unacceptable.
Setting this magnificent motorboat even further apart from other competitors out there, is the impeccable history FROM NEW! Having been lovingly cared for by just two owners from new this example has been meticulously cared for with an ‘open checkbook philosophy’. The first owner, Dr. F.P. Rhoades ordered the boat in 1944 for his wife, Nell. Production began but shortly thereafter was paused due to the war effort (so technically a pre-war boat). It was delivered in September 17 to Detroit Michigan where she remained for a majority of her life. The Dr. then moved to Nevada and the boat was kept on Lake Tahoe for many years. As the Dr aged, use of the boat became more complicated. He traded Nell to the second owner, the Petersons. It was quite the story! Mr. Peterson, living in Florida at the time came across the advertisement in Hemmings magazine and called the Dr and they worked out a trade for both of their prized possessions, a 1963 corvette and a 1946 Chris Craft! The exchange occurred and Mr. Peterson then commissioned the boat to have a photo documented full rotisserie restoration where the boat was fully disassembled and restored. He then had a 300hp fuel injected mercury engine fitted for more practical use. After the restoration, Mr. Peterson contacted Nell, whose husband had since passed and flew her to see and drive the boat she made so many memories on. All of this is documented by a large binder containing dozens of photos dating back to the late 40’s and through to current day, letters, and much more! There is not a better boat with a more heart warming history available ANYWHERE! If you are looking for a boat to share with your family or one to show, she could do both! Offered to the collector, enthusiast, or investor who appreciates the potential and rarity of this magnificent motorboat! Bid with confidence-you will not be disappointed!
