This is a rare 1932 J. R. Bassett guide boat. These sturdy boats were all hand-built for guiding fishing and hunting trips in the St. Lawrence river area of Lake Ontario. It is powered by the original inboard 4 cylinder Universal Blue Jacket motor. It comes with oars, a cover and 1998 Shore Land'r trailer. A partial restoration was performed by a previous owner several years ago. The windshield is an add-on that is easily removed. The boat was shown in the water at the Antique Boat Museum's 2004 Antique Boat Show in Clayton, NY. While this boat is considered museum quality - see photo of letter from the Antique Boat Museum - it is a solid working boat ready to hit the water. Prior to being stored for the past few years it was used on a regular basis and was a guest boat at an inn on Upper Saranac Lake used for fishing and evening cruises.
