Description

Built for the Knickerbocker Yacht Club of Long Island NY the Knickerbocker OD was designed by the famed Sparkman and Stephens firm for the inter club races on Long Island Sound. 23 of the boats were built this being hull #18.She's a classic knockabout design, very quick and points extremely well. I've added roller furling for the jib and single line slab reefing to the main as she's got a lot of sail for her size. Consequently she goes well in light air.2000# of external lead ballast and a 4000# displacement.I replaced new original wood trim which was in tired shape with Honduran Mahogany, and Osage orange. The cockpit sole grating is a lot more pleasant on bare feet than the fiberglass non skid.Also added is a Torqeedo 1005 Travel motor. It's great for getting her in and out of a slip. Take the battery home to chargers it weight around 7 pounds.There is a new ships battery and build pump.2 mains, 2 jibs (one on the furler, the other with hanks) plus a storm jib. Also included is a spinnaker that could use some work. I've never used it.
We've got an impending move to the SC coast and I'm looking for a more suitable boat for the conditions there so reluctantly I'm parting with her.
