Allied Seawind/Windstar PROJECT Sailboat w/3 axle trailer
1964 Allied Windstar
Description
If you always wanted to fix up that blue water boat to cruise the world, here is the one for you at a price beyond belief. The Allied was the first fiberglass boat to circumnavigate.
First, it is a project with the exterior in good shape. The dark green hull needs a wash and wax but is really brilliant and the topside is dirty but in good repair. When the boat was parked on stands four years ago the owner planned to have her made seaworthy by a friend of mine who has since passed.
About a year into the storage, the owner packed all his belongings in the boat, closed her up and left the country to go abroad and marry. He planned to return with his wife and live aboard in the Houston area. That obviously did not work out. His sister removed several personal items about two years ago but the rest remains.
The interior of the boat has been largely removed and the motor pulled ( I don't know why) but is in storage with the boat. The engine is a turbo Volvo motor and is not frozen. The mast mounts on a tabernacle but has neither running or standing rigging and no spreaders or sails.
Bronze dorade ventsare inside the boat and I have been told winches, prop, etc. are also. The trailer is a triple axes very heavy duty trailer that would carry a much larger boat (probably up to 38'). It is equipped with electric brakes but they need to be serviced. It was used last year to transport a 34' to a local reservoir for launch. THIS IS NOT A TRAILERABLE SAILBOAT! HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE PRICED MOVING A FULL KEEL BOAT THIS SIZE YOU SHOULD REALIZE THE SAVINGS IN THIS DEAL. Buy it, fix it, haul it to water, and sell the trailer for 3 or 4 grand.
It is priced at $800 on the boat for storage fees and $2400 on the trailer. I would consider splitting them up after the auction if it does not sell.
If I was not 78 years old I would grab this boat now and start work; however, it is too much project for me to undertake but far too lovely a boat to see it cut for scrap and parted out. Truth be told, this boat and trailer are being sold for less than what it would part out for.
In my opinion, this is a boat that finished would be worth 30k+ and a trailer that should bring 3k minimum. It looks to me as if this is a two year refit, maybe more but could be a real head turner classic in any harbor and done right could carry you anywhere.
I am selling this for the property owner who has seized it for storage fees owed. What I relate is unconfirmed but basedon sound opinion. No builder plate or data was found.
