Description
As a professional marine artisan, I have personally put thousands and thousands of hours into the restoration of this classic racer/cruiser. The boat has been made sound from keel to cabin top but still requires the interior finished out, electrical, mechanical and deck hardware reinstalled. She comes with a brand new mast, new rod rigging and new Pro-Furl, a rebuilt Yanmar 3gmf (10 hrs runtime), new shaft and prop., custom 65R vacuum panels for a custom built fridge/freezer box with a new Frigoboat Keel Cooler system, . Additionally, $3000 of $5000 has already been paid toward a set of new Mack sails that are awaiting some final measurements. A new Lavac head has been fit in place, new dual anchor rollers, new stainless handrails, new thicker smoked acrylic fixed ports and new New Found Metals stainless opening ports, installed! That's easily $35K in parts for a hull that I meticulously restored to a rock solid condition. This particular Peterson has also received the upgrades/modifications that some racers made to improve on the boats original design. Those being a 500lb lead keel boot attached to the bottom of the fin, the mast was moved forward 15in. and a longer boom. I no longer have the time for this sailing machine which I had intended to cruise the world on. It would be a sad and awful shame to see it go to waste. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting a customized express pocket cruiser on a budget with allot of new parts.
The Exterior was professionally resprayed with Awlgrip 5 years ago during the rebuild. While it does show some weathering, the exterior paint is in great shape.
As stated the interior needs to be finished out. The interior has all structural components and most of the cabinetry in place and in good condition. In fact, there has been extensive upgrading to the structural components and remodeling of galley, head and forepeak to improve livability. Electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems need to be reinstalled. Deck hardware needs to be reinstalled (port lights already installed). And unfortunately the bow rail needs to be remade. I have contracted with a skilled welder to do so and half the $2800 cost has already been paid. I've added a couple of pictures from before the rebuild began to provide a general understanding of the interior and deck. I have tons of pictures of the work that has been done.
The boat is located on Johns Island, South Carolina and may stay and be worked on where it sits for $200 a month until that property is sold. There is power and water at the boat. We do not anticipate the property being sold any time soon, but if it does there would be 30 days notice to move the boat. I can arrange for shipping if needed. Buyer pays shipping and handling.

On Feb-17-18 at 06:28:37 PST, seller added the following information:I should also mention that the rebuilt Yanmar was purchased for this boat about 8 years ago. The shop that rebuilt it, ran the motor for 10 hours before shipping it to me. I have not run the engine myself and it has been sitting unused. The engine is currently out of the boat for painting as the mechanic that rebuilt it, did not repaint it. So, the engine could really use a paint job. Also the exhaust elbow that came with the engine is quite rusted on the inside where the saltwater mixes with the exhaust. I had planned on purchasing an aftermarket replacement for the exhaust elbow.
The mast and rigging were custom made for this boat about 8 years ago and have been sitting unused. Some of the paint on the mast has begun to flake off. The Aluminum foil for the Profurl that was purchased new with the mast has a few small points of corrosion that formed while in storage. The Navtec hydraulic back stay adjuster has been leaking its fluid and will need to be rebuilt.
Please read carefully and be aware that there is interior work that needs to be completed such as cabinetry, paint and headliner. The photos of the completed interior are old pictures from before the rebuild began. All of the electrical, mechanical, plumbing and propulsion systems will need to be installed.
Boat and accompanying parts are sold as is. Please contact me with any questions.
