Thanks for looking. This is a VGC Classic 1979 Compac 16’ Sailboat complete with trailer and many extras ready to sail. We are the 3rd owners and she has been very well cared for and have sailed this classic in freshwater lakes for 5-6 years – always a head turner! Recently moved to a larger boat and sad to say she needs to move on. Very stable with the shoal keel, cockpit holds 4-5 people, sleeps 2 if you ever wanted to do a weekend overnight. Just an easy handling stable sail boat. 16’ Long and includes the following:
Main Sail
Main Sail cover
Jib Sail
Jib sail cover
Minn Kota electric outboard (battery not included)
Wood battery case
Trailer – tires 1 year old
Cockpit cushions
Interior cushions
3 fenders
Spare rope
Manual pump
Paddles
Porto-potty
2 pillow / cushions
Wind Vane
Hand operated Bailing pump
Many other parts
Set up is 30 minutes. Mount the mast, hook up the shroud lines lift the mast attach the Front/jib line and she is ready to go. Used however well kept. Power-washed this year and looks great. Bottom coat has another year left so will be good this season. Handrails upgraded to longer larger mahogany with epoxy coat varnish finish, new cockpit door, tiller is fresh epoxy coated with Spar varnish finish. Interior – new wood floor up front, storage cabins installed with lighting. The Minn Kota powers her well and you will only need a battery – we do have a wood battery case to make the battery storage neat and good looking. Trailer has new tires 1-year-old. Can help set up if you are a new sailor if local. Some minor work that may need to be done in the future – rub rail on port side has a split about 12†long – needs to be reglued, however no leaks, trailer could use a new paint job however no rust and very solid. Great day sailor or weekender. Check out the review – she is a classic. She is named “So Into Youâ€. Can be trailered with pretty much any car.
Some external references:
It is a small "pocket cruiser" sailboat. Com-pac 16’s are 16 feet long (4.87m) with a beam of 6 feet (1.82m). They have a shoal draft keel and draw 18 inches (46cm). They are generally thought of as being very seaworthy vessels. A Com-pac 16 displaces approximately 1100 pounds (499 kg) with 450 pounds (204 kg) of that as ballast in the keel. A relatively high ratio of keel weight to boat weight make the Com-pac resistant to heeling or overturning. The Com-pac’s stability lends to its popularity
If you are first time sailor you will appreciate the ease to set up and the stability. Drawing only 18†can go on pretty much any lake, river or shallow body of water. Can also hang in with the larger guys in bays and other protected water (although someone took a similar boat across the Atlantic!)
If needed can help on how to set her up and launch. Local pick up only. Thanks
