1982 SeaRay Sundancer 270DA
Mercruiser 330 less than 100 hours on engine with
1985 EZ Loader Trailer
Parts or Project
I used this 27’ SeaRay Sundancer with a 10’ beam for two seasons with the family and had a lot of fun with it… until the transmission died. Given the expense of replacing that along with the need for new canvas and after the squirrels got in and tore up the cushions, I am offering the boat for parts or as a project. While it is sound, it is not ready to be used. I have removed the electronics for use with my next boat and am offering it as-is where-is. All information is accurate as of when it was professionally winterized in the fall of 2014.
Mercruiser 330 engine rebuilt in 2013 with less than 100 hours, alternator was new in 2014 AC system works great with a new freshwater pump for the HVAC was new in 2013 and the power steering was serviced in 2014. It has a pressure water system with 6 gallon water heater and the pressure pump works well. All the belts were replaced in 2014 along with one of the belt pulleys. Final power is generated by the 330 TRS outdrive which is also in working condition. Both trim tabs work well and were serviced in 2014 and the outdrive trim hydraulics also work well. Inside there is a 2 burner stove, the shore power only fridge keeps beverages cold, and the head contains a marine toilet with sink and shower. I have started the engine and it does start and run just fine, the prop will spin but it will not move the boat at anything above idle speed due to the transmission issue.
On the fore deck the bow pulpit is made of PlasTEAK® (www.plasteak.com) as well as the grab rails. There is an egress hatch above the v-berth that seals well as does the 2nd egress hatch aft of the first in the main solon area. The windshield glass and side glass is clear with no cracks and both windshield wipers work great. All navigation lights, small standard compass, and new (2014) PlasTEAK® hatch covers over the storage hold and the fuel/battery switch area. The swim platform on the transom is solid with boarding ladder and the original SeaRay teak inlays
The entire boat is currently stored on and hauled with a functional although a bit rusty 1985 tandem axel EZ Loader trailer with surge brakes. DOT tail/turn lights are in working order, only the jack should be replaced as the wheel is broken.
Additionally, there is an above the water line leak somewhere, likely in the window seals or one of the through the deck fittings that causes water to enter the cabin when it rains. This has caused the sole (floor) of the salon and mid-cabin to develop some soft spots and get wet after a rain. While not a major functional problem it should be noted. The camper canvas it comes with has seen better days. The seam in the middle of the bimini top tore out and there are a few rips in the isinglass. The zippers are newer and could be salvaged however and the canvas as a whole could be repaired and made to last another season or two but should be replaced soon. Lastly, the trim power gauge doesn’t work (not a big deal at all) and one of the two fuel gauges doesn’t work. These are relatively minor issues but in the interest of full disclosure I wanted to point them out.
I am offering this boat and trailer with clean and clear titles as-is where-is for parts or a project. Every effort has been made to accurately describe all the known issues. I have most, if not all, of the service records for what I have done and most of the records from the previous owner. I also had it surveyed in 2013 and can provide that upon request. Feel free to ask any questions.
