JUST ARRIVING @ YCM!2001 Boston Whaler Montauk 17!2019 Yamaha 90 Horse Power, Fuel Injected, Four Stroke -with only 110 Total Hours! 2021 Aluminum Load Rite Trailer!CALL TO SCHEDULE A LIVE FACETIME WALK-AROUND VIDEO!If your looking for a Montauk with a bunch of pretty teak wood trim to maintain and fiddle with year after year -you won’t find it here!By the time 2001 rolled around, all that high maintenance wood had been swapped out for more durable, modern, hose it off and go materials -the RPS (reversible pilot’s seat) back is now molded fiberglass, the anchor cover is also fiberglass with Boston Whaler’s non-skid diamond pattern surface, the console doors are now made of a thick acrylic with an aluminum frame borrowed from the Commercial Products Division side, adding to the new, more contemporary and tougher look. Some history…Boston Whaler first tested the waters on the “no teak” concept with the 1991 30th Anniversary Edition Montauk, and carried it over in ’92 and ’93 with the well received “SE” edition. By 1994 the Montauk’s fiberglass interior was standard, and the “Teak Package” optional. The American boat buyers interest in the classic wood look had been waining for some time, as had their interest in the maintenance that came with it. Very few Montauks were ordered with teak after the 1995 model year. The classic 13, 15 and 17s had been trending in the same direction for years with the popularity of the all glass interior GLS model. A little more info…In 1997 there were two other notable updates made to the Classic 17 Montauk -Gone is the thin, three piece rub rail set which cracks easily, is a pain in the @$$ to replace, and fails to protect the boats rear corners from impact. Did you know the most likely area to be damaged on a boat during the docking process, or while at the dock is the rear left or right corners? Anyway, for the first time Boston Whaler adds a modern, one piece, heavy duty rub rail to the Montauk- protecting the entire boat, including the transom corners! Also, the bow rail is now 100% welded, no more T-fittings, set screws, rivets or rattles! -And then, after one heck of a run, in 2002 Boston Whaler introduced an all new, post classic Montauk -the “170” marking the end of production for the much loved, 41 year old classic 17…Back to our 2001 - she’s a pretty sweet, highly desirable mix of Classic Whaler and super reliable, modern Yamaha four stroke power! She’ll be here in a few days, we’ll push her through service, followed of course by sea trials - more pics, video opportunities and pricing.
