1939 chris craft
1939 Chris Craft deluxe sportsman model 17
Description
Except for an ammeter, transom strips and hardware fasteners, this is a COMPLETE AND ORIGINAL Chris Craft, of a smaller and harder to find type. It was a barn-find, of sorts, and it was intended to be restored enough to get it in the water. Not a perfect restoration, or even professional, but it is enough to still turn heads. The windshields are cracked and will need replacement, and the original seats have a small tear at the drivers seat. Original cushions come with it, and a spare burgee.Wiring is original and still set up for 6v. Here is the best part.. number matching engine was rebuilt in the 80's and never ran afterwards. Owner moved on to bigger and better in the strip-down stage of its first ever restoration in the early 80's. This was a part of a large collection from a well known collector who passed a couple years ago. I am still putting finishing touches on, and you should know that there are some splits in the deck. The original bottom will need replacing in the future, but it still soaks up and draws tight. The chrome needs updating as well, but everything is there. One missing motor mount (isolator). It is currently registered in Ga, and I have the hull card and engine rebuild documentation, as well as the previous owners registrations (2 previous).I may end the listing if it sells on another site first. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks and God bless. UPDATE: batteries hooked up and engine cranks nicely, points cleaned and I have spark to spark plugs. Have not worked out timing yet, and fuel tank still needs to be pickled and flushed. Oil is pumping and water is pumping. Comes with 2 6v batteries, extra set of tires for trailer, trailer is registered, and all is listed on Atlanta CL as well. This is a chance to own a classic way below Hagerty value. Last time I will be listing, then it goes to the new house with me. 5 days and counting. Professional Surveyors welcome.
