1978 VINTAGE GLASTRON CARSON CVX 18 - V/8
Vintage Glastron Carlson for sale. Selling complete boat needs floor restoration. Bought this nice boat in Minnesota a year ago. The boat looked great. Bought it for $5000 which is more thanwould normally pay but it looked to be in such great shape. All Fresh Water, Low Operating Hours, & Metal Flake & Gel in good shape. We normally buy Carlsons every year or two & love to fix them up. Then enjoy them for a season here on fresh water lakes inMid Florida. Then we usually sell them &do itall over again.Definitely get more of a kick out of fixing them up than the normal everyday use of the boats. This boat did not look to need much of anything at all when purchased. After freshening up, replacing a few parts, & enjoying it a few timeswe noticed the "ole soft spot" in the floor. It did not seem too bad but my partner won't have one unless it is perfect, so he had the carpet, interior, & floor removed to find ( you knew it ) rot in stringers.Had a Classic Glastron Calson Scimitar completely restored once long ago to include stringers, floor, upholstery, metal flake & gel coat & he said never again! This Carlson looks to just need the stringers & floor done, so is the perfect project for the experienced boat repair person. It ishopefully bargain for the do it yourself boat enthusiast. Everything else seems to be ready to go. Transom seems to be solid so just the floor & stringers.
So here is the good-
* Good Running Mercruiser 350 cu in 5.7 Litre Fresh Water Only motor.
* Mercruiser Alpha good working outdrive w/power trim & tilt both on throttle &steering wheel. * Brand new OEM style risers & exhaust manifolds cost $600.
*Freshly reupholsteredfront bucket seats spent $600.
* 2 New Bilge Pumps, new blower, & Air Vents cost $200.* Custom Soft Cloth Show Boat Full Cover cost over $500.*Outside Fiberglass, gel & metal flake looks real good. Look at Engine hatch to get an idea.
* Very Good Drive on Trailer- made trip from Minniapolis to Florida no worries.
* Rest of the interior including back seat & side padding in good usable condition w/new buttons.
* Complete working gauge package. * Full tank ofAlcoholFree Gas.
Boatwasturn the key & drive other than floor & stringers.
Now for the bad-
* Stringers, floor & carpet need replacing.
* Small stress crack on the rear hatch.
* Windshield very useable but thin crack in plexi.

The boat is located in Mt Dora Florida which is middle of state on Fresh Water Chain of Lakes.
I really do not know how to price this vessel because we understand wewill lose money anyway we go,but just hate to part it out, since so much is really ready to go. Figure the parts are worth $2500-$3500 easily& have seen these 1970's Carlson CVX's in good shape go for between $5000 to $8000. **** I answered a letter today asking about how bad the stringers looked beside the motor. I went back to look again & dug out the stringer on the port side of the engine & was incorrect about the condition on it. I would say that both the stringers would have to be replaced all the way back to the stern of the boat. Sorry for any inconvenience in earlier report. I included a few more pics of the stringers to show. Thanks again for looking.****
