1984 Compac 23 MK3
1984 Compac 23 MK3
Description
1984 Compac 23. Nice little boat, classic lines, wood interior, well thought out. Just got it and now I have to move inland so it is up for sale. If you don't know about Compac boats, they are famous for their quality, stability, shoal draft, and salty looks. Here is a review that I can't link to: boatus.com / boatreviews / sail / ComPac23.asp

The Good
Nice boat, very traditional look. It's a classic.Sails seem ok but of unknown age.Interior is in good shape, woodwork needs some varnish.Portapotty is there, it may work.Sleeps 4 in relative comfort.Opening portholes and forward hatch for ventilation.2 additional slats for the companionway that are screened.Has that unique Compac galley solution that slides out.Bead board ceiling, not real wood but looks nice.Shoal Draft is about 2' 3" - nice for the gulf.Ballast is around #1300 making it sturdier than many comparable boats this size.Ladder and outboard mount on stern.Aluminum popup rudder for shallow waters
The Bad
Bowsprit cable is broken. Needs to be replaced before sailing.Bottom paint needs to be redone.Cushions need to be replaced, they are all there but they are old.No standing headroom unless the hatch(s) are open.Haven't found the winch handle yet.
Currently, it is on a custom trailer that can be part of the deal. The trailer is not registered in Florida but you should be able to get temporary tags for traveling or registering (in which case you may need to get the trailer weighed). Because I don't want to go through the hassle of registering it to sell it, the trailer is optional. If you have your own then you won't need this. To be clear, I am selling the boat, the trailer is a freebee with the boat if you want it.
I also have a 6 hp 2 stroke outboard that worked when I bought it 2 years ago. I was going to use it on the Compac but now I may sell it with the boat for a additional sum to be figured out later. I am thinking of taking it with me for my next boat but you can save me the hassle.
The storage is paid up until Nov, I think. So if you buy it you have some time to pick it up or you can negotiate with the storage place to keep it there in Holiday, FL. If you need my help at this end to pick it up or ship it, let me know.
