BLUE MOON 26-foot Sloop, William Tripp, Jr. Designer, Fast and Stable
1965 Sailmaster 26
Description
BLUE MOON is a fiberglass Sailmaster 26 shoal draft keel/ centerboard sloop, designed by William Tripp, Jr. and Dutch-built in 1965. She has traditional lines, which means she looks like a sailboat instead of a Clorox bottle. I have used Blue Moon as an offshore training vessel for the Seamanship & Navigation course I taught for many years. Alas, I am no longer teaching the course. But one of us needs to stay underway, and she volunteered. She is a fast boat in light airs, runs even better in heavy ones, and performs well on all points of sail. She is a stable and seaworthy vessel, with no strange quirks even in full-gale conditions. Properly handled - and I speak as a Coast Guard licensed captain with 40 years' sailing experience - she can take you just about anywhere you are crazy enough to sail her. Frankly, you may find a boat this size at a lower price. I see those ads, too. But odds are that boat is really a "fixer-upper" that needs thousands of dollars of repairs and refits. Blue Moon spares you that costly hassle because she has recently been extensively refitted . (The photo at the top of the page was taken in April, 2016.) You are looking for a nice sailboat, not a pain in the neck. So let's make a deal on a boat you can be proud to own. >>>> LOCATION: Port Isabel, Texas not Columbia, MO.
