1978 Islander Yachtcraft 34

  • Make: Islander

  • Location: Satellite Beach, Florida, United States

Description

This rare cutter-rigged Islander Yachtcraft 34 has had lots of custom improvements including recent pro repaint of decks in Alexseal but hull has not been painted in over 10 years but it has recently been sanded, prepped for profi repaint (good, solid hull, sanded by professional painting contractor in preparation for top-class Alexseal paint, Volvo Penta MD7A 13.4 HP diesel engine runs but needs some minor work (such as seal at rear gear box to prevent slow leak of transmission fluid, repair of transmission control line mount mechanism, possible replacement of raw water cooling pump even though current one works fine), electric system/wiring/lights needs work, some hardware was removed from boom and decks and is provided with the boat but needs to be remounted, some custom interior work has been done but more should be done to new owner's preferences. This sailboat is best for someone who is capable of doing custom improvements or who can manage outsourcing of the work. The photos are from the last couple of years with the exception of the two of the boat on the Travelift which were taken over 10 years ago (at last haul-out). Photos of deck are older - it now looks much better with recent repaint in top-class Alexseal paint. Photos of mahogany cockpit are a little outdated as the mahogany needs revarnishing. Low freeboard - handles well, comfortable. Great liveaboard. The cutter-rigged sailboat comes with extra sails including spinnaker and spinnaker pole. Motivated seller - seeks to find new buyer by end of this auction and for new owner to move by March 5. This sailboat comes with heavy-duty stainless steel bow and stern pulpits and the bow pulpit gives the sailboat more length than comparable Islander Yachtrcraft 34 boats. The entire outer bulkheads around the house were built out 3/8" to produce wells for the 3/8" bronze acrylic custom-cut windows (for original boat had 1/4" acrylic just mounted flush to the outer face of the bulkheads... the improvement makes for a very strong, ocean-wave-proof solution). New mahogany was added to the entire outer face of the cockpit a few years ago in custom-cut 3/8" strips. There are many extras in storage in a warehouse that will be provided to the new owner. The only item that is not included in the price is a custom-built mahogany dodger which will be offered separately at a fair market price. New owner should be prepared to take possession and move the sailboat in early March or sooner. All potential new owners should inspect the sailboat prior to bidding. A sailboat is a complex system and all items and accessories cannot be fully described in the text and photos of a listing. Auction is for sailboat as-is. Bidders are encouraged to arrange a showing prior to bidding. Any bidders who win the auction and do not pay will be prosecuted. Some dishonest bidders won the auction before but did not pay, communicate or show any real interest in acquiring the sailboat. This is not a game. Bidding and winning an auction without real capability and intent to pay and relocate the sailboat causes great damages in time, docking expense and more. We will bill all bogus auction winners for these expenses and we will post reports. PLEASE READ THIS: SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE. IF YOU ARE NOT ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BOAT, INSPECTING THE BOAT, ETC. THEN IT IS UNLIKELY THAT YOU ARE A SERIOUS BIDDER. A SAILBOAT IS A COMPLEX SYSTEM WITH MANY VARIABLES - PLEASE BID ON THIS ONLY IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY AND SERIOUSLY CAPABLE AND INTENDING TO PAY FOR IT WITHIN THREE DAYS AND TAKE POSSESION OF IT IMMEDIATELY (REMOVE BY MARCH 5 OR SOONER).
