1981 TA TONG CAPE HORN 43’ CANOE-STERNCUTTER
Robert Perry designed Bluewater Cutter Polaris 43 copy finished in the Ta Tong yard in Thailand in 1981 One of the last of its design, this controversial Perry design was based on a Valiant 40. Long story of details to come. Short story is that she was hauled out in 2008 for engine rebuild of the perkins 4-108, then never put back in after that was completed . The trailer with ground tackle, sails and interior cushions was stolen so they are missing. Not checked on in the past few years, leaks have developed that caused damage to the interior. Seen in the pictures but not included are the following : Mercury outboard, anything on the ground under the boat

This Ta Tong built Polaris 43 copy is a Robert Perry design that was originally supposed to be a one off custom build. Based on the Valiant 40, he added 12" of freeboard and then stretched it to match. But then the customer took the plans to Thailand and made a short production called the Polaris 43 without paying Perry. This is one of the last built but completed by the Ta Tong shipyard in 1981. She has a canoe stern and a flush deck to aft of the mast, which is deck stepped. Built for blue water, this classic design has great bones and is worth saving, not scrapping. She was pulled onto the hard in 2008 for a rebuild of the perkins 4-108. It was run less than one hour since for testing/break in. Then life got in the way and that’s where it sat.
